#1 Dali’s Mae West Lips Sofa
We’ve all heard of Salvatore Dali. The iconic surrealist Spanish painter was so in love with Mae West’s lips that he crafted a sofa in its shape! Only 5 pieces were made and they are across various cities in the world, either as part of a private collection or on display for public viewing. Dali himself had admitted that they weren’t exactly made to be functional. He just translated his fascination with the actor’s lips into a piece of furniture. Yeah, you read that right. We don’t really know what the intention behind this sofa was, aside from the aesthetic value. But we do know that the design is very popular. One half of the sofa is placed against the wall and it makes the entire arrangement appear as if the sofa is trying to climb up the wall it is supported against.

Remember the standard representation of yin and yang? How two different entities fit together like pieces of a puzzle? Yup, that summarizes what this sofa looks like. This is definitely a favorite of anyone who loves diving into a good book while curling up on a sofa. The bookshelf seater combines the best of both worlds. They come in various shapes and sizes and of late, we’ve been seeing some bookshelf beds too. Either way, they’re truly a great invention.

Remember molecular structures from high-school chemistry? Yeah, this should be something like it. A standard softball sofa has around 120 odd stuffed balls covered in soft fabric that is sowed or glued together to form a seating arrangement. They as visually appealing as they are comfortable to sit in. What makes them even better is that they can be reshaped by using minimal manual effort into whatever shape you want them to be.
